Meet a Family From Mexico and Venezuela
The Garcias have two cultures in one family. Roberto (the dad) is from Chihuahua, Mexico and Mercedes (the mom) is from Valera, Venezuela. Roberto and Mercedes met at the same college in the United States, got married, and eventually moved to Indiana for their jobs.
People speak Spanish in both Mexico and Venezuela, so even though Roberto and Mercedes are from different countries, they speak the same language. They speak Spanish with Rebecca and Isabel at home and Rebecca is also learning Spanish in school.
The Garcias keep in touch with family and friends in Mexico and Venezuela through visits and phone calls.
Rebecca and Isabel enjoy eating their grandmother’s homemade tortillas!
