Meet a Family From India
The Dutt family is from Kolkata (Calcutta), India. When they visited The Zone, they talked to us about the many languages spoken in India and Arushi told us that she can speak 4 of them!
Sanchita put a bindi on Holly. The bindi is a small decoration placed on the forehead and symbolizes that a woman is married (similar to a wedding ring).
They also brought in some traditional Indian food to try. A chewy fried bread called pakora gets dipped into a hot mango pickle sauce for a great snack.
Sanchita and Arushi also showed us their beautiful saris—the traditional Indian dress for women. Very colorful!
