Wheeled Wonders

During this episode, we will be investigating the function of a simple machine – the wheel! Wheels help us move an object (such as a skateboard) across the ground because the wheels cut down on the amount of friction between what we are trying to move (the skateboard) and the surface you are pulling it against (the ground). Two young friends named Cole and Ashley will help Katie show how wheels can help us work.

We will take a Friday Zone Field Trip to the Cascades Skate Park to see what kind of moves young boarders are learning to master and watch as Ryan Smith, a visitor from Bloomington’s Rise Skateboard Shop, shows off some of his skateboarding moves in The Zone. You will laugh as Katie attempts to roller skate with the Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls, and you will meet Aut Phanthavong, an avid in-line skater and WTIU Production Crew Member.
