The Puppet Show

July 31, 2009

Did you know that a puppet is actually a representational figure manipulated or moved by a puppeteer? Most puppetry involves a play or a presentation. Although it may be hard to believe, puppetry is actually an ancient form of theater.

Puppets can be extremely complicated or very simple in their construction. As you will see during the show, there are MANY different kinds of puppets. Puppets can be made from a WIDE variety of materials depending on how the puppeteer plans to use each puppet.

Several shadow puppeteers will be performing in The Zone, and Katie will show you how to make a smaller version of a shadow puppet at home using a piece or cardstock, some paper fasteners, two bamboo skewers, and a little creativity!
