One of Katie’s favorite books of all time is Little House in the Big Woods written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. In Chapter 8 entitled “Dance ant Grandpa’s,” Laura and the other children learn how to make maple syrup candy the old-fashioned way. Former host Holly Gregory will show you how to make a 21st century version of maple syrup taffy during our Friday Zone Flashback.

Tim Burton and Ron Craig from Burton’s Maplewood Farm in Medora, Indiana will be dropping by The Zone to introduce Katie, Savannah, and Dexter to the different grades of maple syrup.

You’ll also learn how to make a pioneer treat called Johnny Cakes in your very own home.
