During this episode, we’re going to explore solar energy.
Solar energy refers to energy (light or heat) that comes from the sun. Unlike fossil fuels such as gasoline and oil, solar energy is a renewable resource. That’s a pretty fancy term! The term “renewable resource” just means that solar energy is a natural resource that can replenish itself over time.
Scientists estimate that we have about 5 BILLION more years of free energy from the sun before the sun uses up all of its energy. Therefore, scientists encourage us to “get it while it’s hot!”
We’ll explore an outdoor solar exhibit at WonderLab, visit with the Purdue Solar Racing Team, and find out how local students use the sun’s power while riding bicycles.
This epsiode is HOT, HOT, HOT!
