On The Friday Zone

Squiggly-Wiggly Worms

January 23rd, 2009

Some people are grossed out by worms. Others think worms make good bait for fishing, but worms are much more important than that!

Katie thinks worms are neighbors worth getting to know, so get ready to meet some of our squiggly – wiggly backyard buddies during this episode of The Friday Zone!

Did you know that nature has a special way of recycling? Although some people are squeamish around worms, worms are actually REALLY good at recycling.

Elisa Pokral, Media and Education Director from the Monroe County Solid Waste Management District will be visiting the Zone to help Katie, Andrew, and Alan understand how worms move and work.

You’re invited to join Katie and the kids on a Friday Zone Field Trip where you’ll learn about composting with red wigglers at the Wolff Ridge Worm Farm. Owner Charlotte Wolff will definitely show you some “Worm Magic!”
