Friday Zone Challenger Agnes (r) learns an African inspired dance from members of the African American Dance Company.Modern, jazz, and hip-hop all originated as a type of cultural dance and are now considered a part of the American cultural dance experience. This week in The Friday Zone, we’ll explore dances inspired by Ireland, the Philippines, and Africa. We challenged six kids, Sarah, Agnes, Angel, Caroline, Sarah, and Arielle, all to learn a cultural dance from professional dancers.

Join us this week as the IU Irish Dancers show us a soft-shoe Jig. The African American Dance Company will demonstrate the role of body isolations in their African-inspired dance. And finally, members of the Barangay Dance Troupe share how bamboo sticks play an important role in the traditional dance of the Philippines Be sure to tune in as The Friday Zone enjoys dance styles from around the world!
