Under The Sea

August 7th, 2009

If you are used to holding your breath when you swim underwater, then you are in for a big surprise! Katie will show you how to breathe underwater using some special SCUBA gear as she participates in Southern Indiana Scuba’s Discover SCUBA program at a local pool.

Humans are mammals, and so are dolphins. See what you have in common with Nova and Kimo, two bottlenose dolphins at the Indianapolis Zoo as Katie participates in the Zoo’s Dophin In-Water Adventure.

Katie, Mya, and Olivia will show you how to bring a little bit of the ocean home to your house with their paper bag aquarium craft activity.

It’s all on the next episode of The Friday Zone!

Digging for Dinosaurs

August 21st, 2009

About 65 million years ago, dinosaurs all disappeared. There are no dinosaurs living now, but we do know that they lived very long ago. How do we know this? We know this because people have found dinosaur bones and other fossils.

A fossil is a part or all of an animal or plant that lived very long ago. Dinosaur bones are just one kind of fossil.

During this episode we’re going to be taking a closer look at what happens “Beyond the Paleo Lab Window” at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and learning about other kinds of fossils that can be found in the Hoosier State. Stay tuned!
