MATERIALS NEEDED: 69 bottle tops

OBJECT OF GAME: Get rid of all of your tops the fastest.

INSTRUCTIONS: Write 69 alphabet letters on bottle tops

  • 69 bottle tops
  • 2 tops for each consonant
  • 6 tops for each vowel (a, e, i, o, u)
  • Optional letters: “q”, “x” and “z” (omitted for our game)
  • 3 blank tops

HOW TO PLAY:

  1. Pick a letter out of the pile to see who goes first. The letter closest to A is the first to go.
  2. Each player gets 7 tops with alphabet letters on each top
  3. Take turns laying down tops to create words.
  4. The first person creates a word using as many of the tops in his hand.
  5. The person next in line must make a word that starts with the last letter of the previous player’s word. (for example if the previous play used the word “dogs” the next play must use the “s” and create a word that starts with that letter).
  6. If a player cannot create a word, he must pick from the pile of tops one-by one until he gets a letter that will help him make a word.
  7. The game continues until one person runs out of letters.
  8. The person who runs out of letters first is the winner.
