Tips for Safe Trick-or-Treating
Things to Consider Before You Go
Make sure you can see out of any masks you wear.
- Avoid big shoes and long skirts that can make you trip.
- All props should be safe (example: toy weapons should not have sharp edges).
- If it is dark bring a flashlight, glow stick, or have reflective tape on your costume.
Safety While Trick-or-Treating
- Never go trick-or-treating alone; always go with a responsible adult.
- If your parents do let you go without them make sure to go in big groups.
- Walk, don’t run.
- Stay on the sidewalks and obey traffic signals.
- Only go to well-lit houses.
- Always go to the front door.
- Remember to be polite and say “thank you”.
- Don’t eat any of your candy until an adult can check it.
After You Get Home
- Have an adult check your candy before eating it.
- Do not eat any candy or food that is unwrapped or looks tampered with.
